Tess is great on and off leash. She is friendly to everyone she meets – adults and children. Tess is in foster care with another dog and cats, and gets along with all of them as well. I was starved, scared and all alone. The women at animal control fell in love me with and hid me so I wouldn’t have to go to a place called Rainbow Bridge. Some people from a rescue took me in and since I was having trouble adjusting to things they put me into boarding. See, I didn’t really know what was good or bad, and I needed some guidance. I was in boarding for so long and people kept saying I was “dog aggressive”, but I am not. I was lucky enough to find someone to give me a chance to prove otherwise and I live with four other dogs right now in my foster home and I love them. OK, so little teeny tiny dogs I do not like, they look like toys. Also, some boy dogs really get on my nerves if they are rude and are all “up in my face”…but I love to play and wrestle and snuggle…I would love to be an only dog but I am also open to being a companions companion for the right family.
She is a 1-1/2 year-old, Pit Bull mix and weighs approximately 40lbs. Callie has amazing ears and a shiny fur coat. She loves to be with people all the time and will be your constant companion. Callie is clearly a farm dog because she loves getting rides on the four-wheeler. She is working hard on her basic commands and listening skills.
Callie gets along well with other dogs, and we recommend she be adopted to a home with another dog who likes to play. After a fun day of activities, she enjoys cuddling and belly rubs.
Callie still acts like a puppy, and needs boundaries and training to grow. Her new family will be happy to make the commitment to training classes, daily exercise, and lots of TLC.

Dog adoption fees are $250, which includes their spay/neuter surgery, microchip, up-to-date with all age appropriate vaccinations (including Rabies), fecal testing, 4DX Heartworm & Lymes testing, deworming, and flea/tick treatment.
Emma Bear's Story... Emma Bear is a pit mix, roughly 2 years of age and tan in color. She was kept tied to a fence her whole life prior to becoming a rescue dog now in a foster home. She is in need of a forever home and is good with children. She is currently working on loose leash walking and has mastered her basic commands such as sit or paw (still working on stay as she loves to follow you around). She is spayed and up to date on all her shots. As of right now, she is best suited for a home where she is the only pet but that could change as she will be dog tested soon. So cross your fingers! This little girl deserves a real shot at a good home, one where she can cuddle for hours and play with tons of toys (she definitely has the energy for it). Please inquiry if you feel Emma could be the dog for you!Emma is in a foster home in the Milwaukee area. She is spayed and fully vaccinated. For more information, please contact Nastassia at nastassiaputz@yahoo.com or 262-337-1967. Adoption Fee: $250

Hudson is a blue nose American Staffordshire terrier. He’s approximately 1 year old and hasn’t been given much of a life. Hudson was brought into animal control when a neighbor complained about him living alone in a crate in a cold garage. Even though the start of his life has been lonely, Hudson doesn’t hold grudges; he is an enthusiastic tail-wagger and lap dog. He is a smart boy and quickly learned how to wait patiently for his food to be put down until given the command, “Okay” before eating. He’s also learned how to “sit”, “stay”, “down” and even to “let go” of any object in his mouth. While in foster care, Hudson has not demonstrated any aggression towards people or dogs, but because he’s been isolated from the world, he gets excited when he sees things for the first time, and so we recommend a home with no toddlers and a slow introduction if there are other dogs. The slow intro is recommended because Hudson needs to learn how to communicate better with other dogs – he’s a bit of an oaf that wants to play play play when he sees another pup. Given love, training and more exposure to the good life, Hudson is going to be an awesome friend and dog.
She is a 2 year old Pit Bull mix. This happy girl is always wagging her tail, and she always looks like she is smiling. Looking for a fantastic cuddle buddy? Then meet Adele, a two-year-old Pit Bull mix available for adoption from MADACC! Adele is an absolute sweetheart, who will win you over with her short legs, wagging tail, and a big smile that is almost always on her face. Right now Adele is living with another dog in her foster home, and they get along wonderfully. She loves to chase her foster brother around the yard or wrestle together in the house. While Adele does need her daily exercise, she will not miss an opportunity to snuggle up next to you on the couch!Adele would do well in a house with other dogs and children, we're not sure about cats. While she is very polite and quiet, she is still learning her basic commands, and would do well in a doggy manners class. She is also potty trained and crate trained. To inquire about Adele, email adoptmadacc@gmail.com. Adele A258667MADACC Dog Adoption Fee: $100.00 (+ $12 license fee if dog is over 5-months and will reside in Milwaukee County).
Are you looking for an affectionate dog that is content to just be with people? Well, Olivia is that dog. She is a well mannered, completely potty trained 2-3 year old lady that is looking for a home with a fenced in yard and lots of love. Olivia is moderately active and knows basic commands. Some of her favorite activities are giving kisses, chasing tennis balls, sunbathing, going for walks and hanging out around the yard. People are her world and she is a devoted companion. She will follow you around the house, watch TVon the couch and snuggle in your bed at night. She is respectful and leaves plenty of space for you to sleep too. After all being with you is where she wants to be.
Olivia doesn't ask for much. She doesn't want to go to the dog park or need a ton of exercise. What she needs is your love and to be the only pet. Welcoming a dog like Olivia into your home is not as difficult as you might think. If you are planning on only having one pet, don't have animal visitors and aren't interested in going to dog parks, Olivia can very easily fit into your life.
Instead of going to the dog park, Olivia LOVES going for walks around town or in the woods. She walks wonderfully on the leash and does not drag her foster mom all over. Olivia does not have any problem passing by other dogs when out on a walk, she is more interested in smelling the ground and paying attention to her person. Going for a ride in the car is another favorite pastime and she makes an excellent co-pilot. She also likes to entertain herself by tossing a toy in the air and then catching it. Watching this always entertains her people! Olivia has such an endearing personality and she deserves a home of her own.
Please give her the opportunity to be your devoted friend. She's been waiting for you!
He was on stage and showed everyone what a great dog he was so we are not sure why he is still homeless. He is fun and good boy. He likes toys, treats; plays fetch, tug, settled and chew. Jack will self-pet by rubbing against you and he seeks affection. He does know sit and was a very good boy.

Meet Jack! Jack is a 10 month old Pit Bull mix. He is a fun and playful guy, and when you meet him you just can't help but smile. Jack has a fair amount of energy, but he responds well to correction and is a faster learner. He loves toys - stuffies and squeakies alike.

Jack is now available through Milwaukee Pets Alive

We hold weekly adoption events each Sunday from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. at the Greenfield PetSmart, located at5005 S. 74th St. Check back often to see a schedule of other special adoption events!

Who We Are

Milwaukee Pets Alive is a 501(c)3 nonprofit dedicated to ending the killing of homeless pets in Milwaukee, through comprehensive programs and resources benefiting and serving the people and companion animals of Milwaukee first.

Our top priority is that all healthy, treatable and rehabilitatable animals at Milwaukee Area Domestic Animal Control (MADACC) achieve live outcomes.

So as not to duplicate the work of other local organizations and agencies, our focus is entirely on those healthy, treatable and rehabilitatable animals at MADACC that have been passed over by other groups, are about to be killed or have no other options for live outcomes.

We are 100% Milwaukee pets! Our vision is for Milwaukee County to be recognized as one of the safest communities for companion animals in the United States.

Come Visit Us

Milwaukee Pets Alive is a "virtual" organization, working to rescue animals from Milwaukee animal control and place them into loving foster homes and then, once they are ready, into forever homes!

We hold weekly adoption events with available cats and/or dogs at the Greenfield PetSmart, located at 5005 S. 74th St., every Sunday from 11 a.m.-3 p.m.

If you're interested in meeting one of our animals outside of a regular adoption event, please contact adopt@milwaukeepetsalive.org.
