Crimson is a Siberian husky/pitbull mix. He is 6 years old, but he has the spunk and energy of a 2 year old. He has characteristics of both breeds. He has NEVER shown aggression towards humans, but he does love to jump and lick faces, although he does stop for a little bit when you tell him to stop. Crimson has a dog brother who is about the same age, but he has hip dysplacea (sp?). Recently, Crimson has been jumping on his dog brother's hips, and he has also been biting and pulling at his ankles. Sometimes he is not redirectable, and we have to separate them. He may be better as the only dog in the house, but he does get along with other dogs. He does well with babies and toddlers, but is very excitable around children and new people.

My boyfriend and I took in Crimson 5 years ago so he wouldn't get sent to the humane society. We rescued our other dog from a very bad environment. I am just afraid that my other dog's condition will get worse because of Crimson.

Claire takes the chaos in stride. She loves playing with us and the kids, with toys, wrestling with our dog. She also loves snuggling. She'll sleep in your lap, next to you, or her favorite -- cuddled under the sheets next to you. She tolerates baths and is comfortable with car rides. She's mastered the few stairs in and out of our house, but can't go up or down a full flight of stairs yet. She's learning how to walk on a leash and she's mostly housetrained, but as these are new skills for her she's still working on them. She has a crate for when we're not at home, not able to keep an eye on her, and for bedtime. She prefers to be out of it, but if she has something to do or is sleepy, she's A-OK in there.
Our yard has frequent visitors of frogs, squirrels, birds, and even a cat a few days ago. Claire hasn't paid any attention to them, even running past the cat with our dog to find a place to go potty. Her interests appear to be people, dogs, food and treats and wood mulch, usually in that order. She likes to chew on wood, what can I say?
She'd do well in most any home, but one where she'd be kept exercised and played with daily would definitely be ideal. More than anything Claire wants to love and be loved. She's an absolute dear with a beautiful personality, and she's ready for her forever home.

Meet Simon! He is a 4-month-old, Pit Bull mix. Simon is Schuster's Brother. This boy came in with others of his litter. Castaway PetRescue pulled Bennett and Claire, and while initially they were very shy and afraid, it only took a few moments for them to warm up and begin playing and acting as puppies. I am 13 years old, and was very sadly surrendered to the shelter because I had a tendency to wander off of the property with neighborhood children too often. Perhaps my new family will keep me on leash, or have a fenced in yard to help keep me safe and at home. If you are looking for a family dog, I am an older, mellow girl that loves to cuddle, and I do well with children. I am housebroken, very loving, and I have a nice sit and come. I am polite on leash, and my favorite part of the day is when I am taken for nice long walks. I do enjoy chasing small animals like squirrels and rabbits, so a home without cats would definitely be best. I have been doing great with most of the other dogs here, but if you already have a dog for me to play with, I would like to request a meet and greet time here at the shelter before you adopt me, just to make sure that we are a good match. Like many dogs, I do not care for thunder or the loud noise of fireworks.
