NOTE: All our Cupids are fostered in private homes. An approved application MUST be on file before proceeding with meet-and-greet. The online application can be found at http://www.caninecupids.org/adopt-.html. **This foster will only accept applications from adopters within a 2-hour drive of the city of Milwaukee.**Meet Leela!
Leela is approximately two years old and weighs about 55lbs. She is a sweet, affectionate girl that lives with multiple other dogs. Leela has been in foster care for awhile and has done perfectly fine meeting new foster siblings while off-leash. She loves to wrestle, snuggle, and play tug-o-war with her foster sisters, and is great with her foster puppies.

Leela does have a few personality quirks though. She can be a bit protective of her crate, kong, or very high-reward treats. This is very manageable though and is not really an issue in her foster home.

Leela is a very well-behaved girl and is very sensitive. She can be trusted left out to her own devices and is not destructive of household items, etc. She does, however, get very excited (in a good way) about going in her crate and having a yummy kong or raw bone. She is crated while her foster mom is at work and is perfectly content with some music or the radio playing.

She is very eager to please! She loves to cuddle, play, and chill out on the couch. She actually smiles…well, grins…she has this silly grin when she is super happy and has full-body wags!

Leela would do best in a home without cats or other small animals. She would prefer a home with older children (over 12). A home with an experienced dog owner to help her with her quirks would be ideal.

Leela will come with a few free training sessions to help her with her leash reactivity issues. She gets a bit over-excited and over-stimulated while on-leash and needs to work on her confidence and maintaining calmness in high-excitability situations. Leela would not do well in a dog park setting.

LeeLa’s adoption fee is $250 and she is being fostered in southeastern Wisconsin. Because all our Cupids are fostered in private homes, an approved application (from adopters within a 2-hour drive of the city of Milwaukee) MUST be on file before proceeding with a meet-and-greet. The online application can be found at http://www.caninecupids.org/adopt-.html.

Our Thoughts on Visual Breed Identification
Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable. For most of our adoptable Cupids we are only guessing at the predominant breed or breed mix. We think it’s most important is to get to know each dog as an individual! We then do our best to describe each of our adoptable Cupids based on their personalities in order to determine whether they’ll make good companions based on prospective adopters’ lifestyles. Dog behavior is not exclusive to breed — it’s a complex mix of nature and nurture.lee lee1
